To celebrate its 75th anniversary, Veikkaus launched a campaign inviting Finns to reflect on what music means to them — while also highlighting how lottery funds support Finnish music. Each year, over €40 million is directed to domestic music and more than €50 million to youth work through grants from the Ministry of Education and Culture.
As part of the campaign, people entered a contest to win a private concert by Von Hertzen Brothers by suggesting the most unforgettable live music venue in Finland. The winning idea would become the actual concert location. Nearly 700 entries were submitted, filled with heartfelt stories and stunning venue suggestions.
The winning location? Söderskär Lighthouse Islet, located in the outer archipelago off Porvoo — about 30 km from the mainland. The winner brought along their 75 closest friends, and the concert took place on August 26, 2015.
The event was streamed live on VeikkausTV, with a recording available at www.veikkaus.fi/majakkakeikka, and featured as part of the national lottery broadcast.
